S K Umesh joined the force in 1990 and has worked at Mahadevpur Police Station, Chikkapet Police Station, and Kalasipalya Police Station. He is also a recipient of the Hon'ble Chief Minister's Medal for 2007. Also, in recognition of his excellent service, he was honoured with the Honorable President's Meritorious Medal on the occasion of Independence Day 2015. In addition to above, he has also received Special Operation award from Central government in 2020, Aryabhata Award in 2008 and Kempegowda award by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike 2005.
