Shri. S.K. Umesh joined the Police Department in 1990 as a PSI. Since his inception, he has demonstrated a talent for the prevention and detection of property crimes as well as the control of a rowdy menace, and he has been primarily responsible for a number of sensational arrests and investigations in Bangalore. Some of the sensational cases that are investigated or handled by Mr. SK Umesh are listed below.

• While at Chickpet PS, he apprehended a gang of Irani Muslims headed by Afsar who were posing as CBI officers and cheating gullible people, and he detected 16 such cases. In the sensational case of the kidnapping of one Shri. Nirmal Kumar Jaipuria, who demanded a ransom of Rs. 10 crore, S K Umesh worked relentlessly with the team and was successful in apprehending notorious professional kidnappers headed by Prabjinder Singh. For the excellent work done by him, he was awarded a commendation letter by the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

• In another sensational case of professional kidnapping, industrialist Satish Shetty from Hubli was apprehended in 1998 by notorious kidnappers led by Bihar's Bablu Srivatsava which was solved by S.K. Umesh.

• In a case of burglary at a jewelry shop, S. K. Umesh apprehended the accused, Rajesh Broke, and recovered 8.5 kg of gold jewelry worth about 40 lakhs hidden under the ground in Rajasthan.

• In a daring action, S.K. Umesh and team members apprehended Mumbai's notorious Supari killer, Erick Danial D’Souza, who was involved in 35 Supari killings in Pune, Delhi, and Mumbai, culminating in an encounter in Bangalore.

• In another sensational case, SK Umesh apprehended notorious rowdy and kidnapper Nasru, who was involved in more than 50 cases of dacoity, daylight robbery, kidnapping of live-band signers, and rape. Later S. K. Umesh and others raided Nasru's hideout, and when he assaulted police officers with a helicopter, he was shot dead.

• Santhosh, a coffee farmer, was arrested in another case where he cheated many European countries to the tune of 6 crores.

• ·In sensational cases of professional kidnapping,

Ø Industrialist Satish Shetty, from Hubli, was apprehended in 1998 by notorious kidnappers led by Bihar's Bablu Srivatsava, which was solved by S.K. Umesh.

Ø A businessman, Vineet Vachani, from Bangalore, and S.K. Umesh's hot pursuit of all clues resulted in the kidnappers releasing the victim, but he was successful in apprehending the gang headed by Veerendra Panth, a close associate of Bablu Srivatsava of Bihar who was later killed in an encounter with Delhi Police.

• In another kidnapping case in 2001, SK Umesh apprehended Ramesh and his associates and rescued the victim.

• When notorious underworld criminal Sudihir Prabhu escaped from judicial custody, SK Umesh nabbed him and produced before the court.

• While working as a PI for the CCB:-

Ø S.K. Umesh assisted the CBI's Interpol in apprehending and bringing back to India a notorious underworld criminal named Mutappa Rai, who wanted more than 30 sensational cases and had been issued a red corner notice.

Ø A sensational case involving the mysterious disappearance of Ms. Chitralekharaj Urs, daughter of former Karnataka justice, S. K. Umesh worked tirelessly and traced her dead body in the forest near Dharmasthala, arresting the accused, Smt. Bharati Urs, daughter of late Shri. Devaraja Urs (former Chief Minister of Karnataka), and her associate.

Ø He arrested one Jaffar and recovered nine cars worth Rs. 25 lakh. He arrested a notorious robber, discovered 15 cases of robbery and theft, and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 5 lakhs as well as a double barrel gun while working for the CCB.

• While working at Shivajinagar PS, he nabbed one Yeshwanth, who brutally murdered Smt. Rathanamma in D.J. Halli Police Station and took away Rs. 2 lakhs in cash and gold jewellery.

• While working at Thilaknagar Police Station, SK Umesh apprehended Srinivasa @ Seena, and Ashoka and recovered 59 two-wheelers worth over Rs. 35 lakhs.

• Dil @ Tilakraj was arrested and gold ornaments worth Rs. 1 lakh were recovered by S.K. Umesh in another sensational case of murder for gain in which one Smt. Jayamma, the sister of former Home Minister Ashwath Narayana Reddy, was murdered within the limits of Koramangala police station.

• In another notable arrest, he apprehended one Dinesh and his associates who murdered one Suresh in Bangalore District in 1995.

• S. K. Umesh apprehended a notorious gang of sandalwood smugglers led by Moula @ Choodi. Moula and Nayaz recovered sandalwood and cars worth Rs. 5 lakhs. Nayaz has been charged in over 150 cases of petrol bunker robbery and sandalwood smuggling.

• S.K. Umesh apprehended and recovered clothes and other property worth Rs. 75 lakhs from notorious cheats Mazar Khan, Raffiq, and their associates.

• In 2004 and 2005 one Vinicinc Shastry and Lokesh opened a chit called Vinivinc which is having so many barnches named Vinivinc chits, Vinivinc marriage, Vinivinc multi Marketing, Vinivinc education foundation etc. opened by above two persons and collected huge money from the public around about 300 Crores primising them to give at higher interest for the deposits. Finally he couldnot able to give interest due to wrong investment by the company. After President of the company Vinivinc Shastry and the secratory Lokesh abscanding from the firms as such so many criminal cases registered them in central station in Bangalore city in Feb and March of 2005. We finally arrested both of them in September and October respectively in 2005 and recovered 5 crores rupees from them.

• In 2006, while working at Kalasipalya Police Station, he apprehended notorious property offenders and robbers, including Mohammed Ilyas, and recovered property worth Rs. 41 lakhs.

• He also nabbed Girish Babu, the psychopath, and detected five undetected murders for gain.

• S.K Umesh arrested a group of Hiranshikaris involved in seven murder cases and 13 cases of dacoity and murder in the Chittoor district of AP. The Tamil movie "Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru " is purely based on this incident only!

• In the case of the kidnapping of Shanthi Prasad, and the demand for a Rs. 25 lakh ransom and S. K. Umesh nabbed the kidnappers within 48 hours and rescued Shanthi Prasad.

• He also apprehended a notorious serial killer, the Dadupalya Gang, who is on trial in 27 murder and robbery cases and who escaped from judicial custody with his associate and was sentenced to death by the Court. The Kannada movie "Dandupalya" and its sequels are purely based on these incidents.

• S.K. Umesh apprehended Mallika @ Kempamma, a notorious serial woman killer who murdered 11 women in various locations throughout Bangalore City and was later sentenced to death by the Court in two cases. A Kannada movie named Cyanide Mallika was based on this story alone.

• While he was working in J.P. Nagar PS, S.K Umesh arrested a notorious lady, Selvi, and her associates, who killed one Ganesh and buried it in his own kitchen, like the Drusyam movie.

• He also arrested Narasimha and his associates, who confessed to committing the murder in Molkalmur police station, where they killed Babu.

• In another sensational case, S.K.Umesh chased notorious chain snatchers, and when they tried to attack the officer, he opened fire in self-defense, injuring Amarnath, arresting him and his associates, and detecting 30 chain snatching cases. The accused was convicted for 7 years.

• By investigating 122 cases in Bangalore City, S.K Umesh apprehended a 17-member gang of a notorious Irani gang that used to defraud elderly and lonely ladies by posing as cops and recovered gold ornaments worth over Rs. 50 lakhs.

• In another sensational case, S. K. Umesh was initially in charge of investigating the murder of a DELL software company employee named Payal Surekha, but the case was later transferred to the CBI by the Hon'ble Supreme Court. However, finally, the CBI concluded that the charge sheet they prepared was based on the same evidence as that in SK Umesh's charge sheet, which resulted in a life conviction for the victim.

• S.K. Umesh arrested Shakil Ahmed, who had kidnapped Chandrakanth(a boy) and killed him at Chikkaballapur. He also arrested Hemanth, who had kidnapped Pushpalatha and killed her at Vijayanagar. In addition to these, he also arrested Dilip who kidnapped Poornima and killed her at Anekal.

• He apprehended notorious offenders Tabrez and his associates, who murdered one Janakidas @ John and buried his body near Bidadi, Ramnagar District, on March 7, 2012, and recovered stolen vehicles which include Maruthi car & two two-wheelers worth Rs 4 lakh.

• He was also instrumental in investigating and detecting the gold robbery in Manappuram, where he arrested all of the suspects and recovered all of the recovered gold.

• S. K. Umesh played a vital role in solving the unsolved murder cases of Wing Commander Parvez Hamilton Khokhar. In this case, he recovered diamonds and gold jewelry worth 5 crores from Jubber Ahamed, a resident of the Huskur, Hebbagodi police station.
