According to Shri S K Umesh "Lakes are the only freshwater bodies in Bangalore which have sustained the city and its growth over the years. They are critical wetlands that regulate the climate. An important feature of the lakes is that they act as active groundwater recharge points to maintain the underground water table. Thus, they also came to be known as the ‘Natural Reservoirs’. As such He along with like minded people rejuvinated the Harapanahalli Lake near Bangalore and gave a complete a new birth to the the lake. This was highly appreciated by the media , Police freternity and the  locals.

During his term, Shri S K Umesh discovered a traffic jam that had been there for many years, squeezing drivers and causing them to suffocate on the national route. Numerous police officers' attempts to correspond with the National Highway since the 1950s have been fruitless. When Shri S K Umesh learned about it, he immediately began redesigning the main circles, including Attibele, Sarjapura, and Bommasandra. As a result, there was a significant decrease in recurrent accidents in those deaths. The residents, particularly those in the Hebbagodi industrial area, Attibele industrial area, and Narayana Hrudayala hospital, were very appreciative of the police officers' concern for their safety.

In an attempt to boost Bangalore's electrical capacity, the Central Grid project was started in 2013 but was shelved because of a lack of domestic backing and police protection. The project's supervisor, Mr. Umesh, called in Mr. Bheemashakar, the Grid Corporation of India's executive engineer, to discuss the situation in detail as soon as he realized how serious the situation was and how important the project was. This cleared the way for the project to be completed all the way to Somahalli's main receiving station. The public, who had been negatively impacted by the shortage of energy, applauded this move.

According to Shri S K Umesh, people don't become criminals by birth; instead, traumatizing events or a lack of experience lead to criminal behavior. Because of this, notable people in society who were previously criminals still recall the efforts he took to reform crime and rioting during his time in the police force.

Even after retirement, Shri S. K. Umesh has been continuing to provide legal aid to the needy people and educate school students about the importance of forests in our daily lives, despite the fact that he lives in Seminar.
